Sheryl Sandberg and Gloria Steinem

There are hell lot of people who use social media to generate businesses. Facebook promises something awesome for SMBs. Sheryl Sandberg is focused on SMBs as she believes that they drive the economy in India.

Some companies claim that Facebook has done good for their business. Many companies outsource their SEO and content management to experts with no returns.

Is social networking good enough for generating business and how much of the visibility that a company gets through them gets translated into business is difficult to measure.

Its a great branding activity that eventually will generate business.

While Sandberg was in India she spoke about women in the corporate world and her views on women. She was extremely powerful in saying women can juggle work and family as opposed to what Indira Nooyi believes that women cannot have it all.

Yes it is tough for Indian women as we have to fulfill everyone’s expectations but, only till we wish to. When its time to say ‘No’ to that we better say it loud and clear. What is important for me, has to be pursued. The concept of sacrifice doesn’t work in the long run.

What is important for an individual, has to be pursued. Do what YOU want to do with your life.

These are some wonderful books by Gloria Steinem. She is one of the woman who made me feel powerful; other women being Maya Angelou and Christine Lagarde

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”- Gloria Steinem
